Power of imagination

Image has two photos one on the left is clouds in a line and on the right it is a rock at Puzzlewood.

Our minds are so much more powerful than we give it credit for.

An area in particular is our imagination. When we are young we use our imagination with creativity and are admired by adults wishing they were more "child like".

Recently I walked from my house to my accountants who's not too far away.  On the way I noticed the clouds in a line and it was the same day the 7 planets were to align 😀.  A recent visit to Puzzlewood, left my imagination running away with itself, that when I saw a pointed rock I imagined it was a troll / gnome hidden in the rock until darkness fell (oh the joys of imagination).

Here's the thing at any age we can put the power of the imagination to great use.  We could imagine how we want to feel or what it would feel like when x, y & z.  We can use imagination to problem solve, continue to be creative etc.

The downside is the imagination can go in the opposite direction and start imagining worst case scenario, this results in potential anxiety or panic attacks.

A technique used with my my clients, if they wish, is hypnotherapy. By understanding their map of world and what they would like to achieve we can encourage the subconscious mind to start noticing what they want, how it feels and to start making the changes.

Today I attended a Pain Management programme with Human Givens College where we talked about the use of guided imagery (aka hypnosis) to support clients learn relaxation techniques to help reduce the pain they feel.

I'll finish as I started, our minds are just so powerful.
